It’s a Christmas miracle, Charlie Brown!

In a story straight from a Hallmark Christmas movie, Rafik the cat was reunited with his family just in time for the holidays. The trouble started when the wily kitty escaped handlers at Toronto Pearson while transiting through the airport.

After three whole weeks of sneaking around undetected, a Trisect Construction employee spotted the cat burglar slinking around the site and reported the sighting straight away to the Airport Operations Command Centre. Through the crafty efforts of Falcon Environmental, the GTAA’s Wildlife Contractor, Rafik was scooped up to safety.

Following a quick trip to the vet to ensure that no harm had come to the clever escape artist during his three weeks of freedom, a WestJet volunteer flew Rafik home to YQR to be reunited with his family. His owners are absolutely thrilled that they’ll get to spend the holidays with Rafik and as for the culprit himself…his only answer when asked about how he felt about being home was a succinct, “Meow.”

Thank you to everyone involved in ensuring Rafik’s safe return and for keeping the health and safety of all in mind while executing this unusual rescue operation!
