    1. Service Excellence
    The Service Excellence workshop will encourage Pearson Airport employees to go beyond basic customer service and empower them to create memorable service experiences for their customers. Employees will learn to understand their customers' needs, communicate effectively, and be empowered to make decisions that benefit the customer and Toronto Pearson.

    Duration: 1 full day

    2. De-Escalation and Self Care
    De-escalation training is a vital component in customer relations for workers as they participate in the customer service cycle. This workshop will equip Pearson Airport staff with various tactics and skills that can help you mitigate difficult situations with a guest.

    Although we may realize that self-care is important for our well-being, many of us make excuses or find it difficult to overcome barriers to adapting personal self-care practices. This workshop will help Pearson Airport employees learn about what self-care is and how it positively impacts our health and well-being.

    3. Emotional Intelligence
    Emotional intelligence, also known as EQ, can help us to be more self-aware, understand how to lessen the impacts of our emotions, and build better relationships - in both our personal and professional lives. This introduction to emotional intelligence workshop will show Pearson Airport employees how to harness their EQ to better navigate these changing times.

    4. Leadership – Communicating for Excellence
    The workshop is designed to introduce management participants to communications styles and processes, emotional intelligence and how to use communication and emotional intelligence to diffuse emotional conversations. By the end of the workshop leaders at Pearson Airport will be able to Identify different communication styles and how they drive behaviour, understand how the different elements of communication impact relationships and behaviour, and learn how emotional intelligence can defuse emotional conversations and increase positive outcomes.

    5. Leadership – Team Building for Excellence
    The workshop is designed to provide leaders at Pearson Airport with the understanding of how to effectively communicate, build strong sustainable relationships, resolve conflicts and contribute to a team environment. At the end of the workshop, Pearson Airport leaders will be able to define what makes a high-performing team, understand how to assess a team’s alignment and success, and discuss the elements of team trust and the causes of conflict.

    6. English Language Enhancement and Communication
    During this training, the participants practice tactical language using a conversational topic so that they can build their fluency and confidence. The facilitator will also integrate role playing for optimal interactions and learning. This is combined with the Service Excellence workshop which is delivered during these weeks as well.

    Duration: 90 minutes/ week for the duration of 8 weeks
    Additional: One on one coaching, Speech pathologist session
    Who can attend: Toronto Pearson staff who need English language enhancement and support

Nonprofit community organizations offer a range of expertise and services free of charge in areas of employment, housing, mental health and food security. Here are several organizations ready to help.

  • ACCES Employment
    ACCES Employment is a leader in connecting employers with qualified employees from diverse backgrounds. More than 40,000 job seekers are served annually at six locations across the Greater Toronto Area. As a not-for-profit corporation, ACCES Employment provides job search services free of charge. Visit the ACCES website and learn about their many services and programs.

    Achev
    Achev is a leader in delivering employment, settlement and language services in the communities they serve. Their professional team provides the appropriate resources, skills and opportunities which empower people to achieve their potential.

    Hospitality Workers Training Centre
    As a not-for-profit sector-based workforce development organization, the Hospitality Workers Training Centre (HWTC) exists for the purpose of contributing to a strong hospitality industry. They work along employer, labour and community partners to connect job seekers to high-growth opportunities across the sector, while also helping them overcome personal and social barriers along the way.

    Windmill Microlending (Education and Reskilling Loans)
    Windmill Microlending is Canada’s largest microlending charity for skilled immigrants and refugees. Windmill offers low or no-interest loans of up to $15,000 to help skilled newcomers obtain the credentials, licensing or training they need to achieve career success in Canada.     Skills for Change
    Skills for Change provides learning and training opportunities for immigrants and refugees to access and fully participate in the workplace and wider community. Services offered include information and referral, French and English language assessment, English language instruction, integrated language/skills training, employment preparation, business skills, mentoring, entrepreneurship skills, skilled trades and settlement services.

    Job Skills
    Job Skills offers employment solutions connecting the skills of job seekers with the needs of employers to create a more vibrant community. Job Skills has established a strong community presence and continuously works to strengthen its relationships with Employment Service providers, social service agencies, the business community, educational institutions, municipalities and all levels of government.

    Employment Ontario can help you get the training, skills and experience you need to achieve your goals. They connect people looking for work with employers looking for workers and have locations across the province to help with job search and employment and training opportunities.

  • CAMH
    CAMH provides a wide range of clinical care services for patients of all ages and families.

    ConnexOntario
    Free and confidential health services information for people experiencing problems with alcohol and drugs, mental illness and/or gambling. System navigation and information service is live-answer 24/7, confidential, and free.

    A non-profit credit counselling agency and financial literacy leader, active in the community and leading government-supported initiatives.
