What made you want to work in the aviation industry?

Honestly, I was young and needed a job! My sister worked for WestJet. She helped me with my resume and I became a Customer Service Agent. I never thought it would turn out to be a career, but after being there for a while, I wanted to grow more within the airport. I moved over to towing aircrafts, then deicing and that’s how I eventually branched out into joining the GTAA.

Who are some of your biggest inspirations and why?

Kobe Bryant. Seeing his work ethic and how his mind works…nothing is ever given to you, you always have to work hard for it. I really like this quote from him:

"Those times when you get up early and you work hard, those times when you stay up late and you work hard, those times when you don’t feel like working, you’re too tired, you don’t want to push yourself, but you do it anyway. That is actually the dream. That’s the dream. It’s not the destination, it’s the journey. And if you guys can understand that, then what you’ll see happen is you won’t accomplish your dreams, your dreams won’t come true; something greater will."

We heard about a particular act of kindness from you. Can you tell us about that moment?

I work very closely with our Toronto Pearson partners. During the Labour Day weekend – a really busy time – I got a call that one of their supervisors had fainted and they called medical. As soon as I got the call, I dropped everything. She had kids flying in that day and…she refused to go to the hospital because her family was coming in.

I bought her food because there’s a lot going on during those peak hours and I wanted to make sure she was healthy before anything else.

We are all connected in the airport community. We should…strive to be better versions of ourselves.
