Meet Regina

Manager Capital Projects on the Airport Development and Construction team at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority

People of Pearson is a weekly series highlighting the great work and achievements of members of our Pearson community.

“My name is Regina and I am the Manager Capital Projects on the Airport Development and Construction team at the GTAA. The team’s focus is to ensure that our airport’s major infrastructure—such as buildings, runways and bridges—is restored, repaired, replaced and reinforced to make sure it’s safe to use and extend its life! ”

“I joined the GTAA because I wanted to broaden my horizons and expand my knowledge and skills within my career. I’ve been able to transfer the skills I already have in the architectural, construction and project management fields and continue to challenge myself with learning new ones. When I joined the GTAA in 2020, I was lucky to be part of a supportive team who took the time to introduce me to the airport world.

I am fortunate to be able to interact with many colleagues from diverse backgrounds, both internal and external, as our business relies on the work of professionals to participate and contribute to the successful delivery of our work. It’s been so enjoyable being part of such exciting projects since joining the GTAA, such as the 2020 Airfield Program Pavement Rehabilitation, Passenger Boarding Bridge Upgrades, Parking Garage Restoration, and many more.

The amount of detail required to deliver construction projects in an operating environment is always a challenge and passenger expectations are always evolving. With our passenger volumes gradually increasing again, we are embracing new and more innovative ways to fund, plan and execute projects in a safe, efficient and timely manner.

Working at the airport is awesome. I have the opportunity for growth and to learn globally transferable skills. There is never a dull moment and there’s always something going on. I love coming here and seeing the hustle and bustle of travellers from all over the world, imagining where they are headed and knowing that, like them, I’ll be somewhere else soon - preferably somewhere with a beach and palm trees!

Together, we’re working towards a huge recovery in the aviation industry. I am very proud of Toronto Pearson and what we all do here. Always ‘Pearson Strong’!”
