What has been the highlight of your career?
When I joined HMS Host. Being the chef that I was came with a lot of expectations to do well. When I heard that I was going to work with them, that was really the career highlight. When I heard that I was going to work with Chefs Lynn Crawford, Roger Mooking and Susur Lee, that was really the highlight. I had seen these three celebrity chefs a lot on TV when I was a new immigrant, and to work with all of them…I was really lucky.
What made you want to get into this industry/work at the airport?
I love eating good food! And then I started learning how to cook that good food. I studied back home in India in Hotel Management, which was four years with a culinary course as well. I worked in India for about ten years, with a five-star hotel and very high-end fine dining restaurants.
When I came to Canada in 2000, I worked with some very well-known companies, but this has been my best job. I don’t think I would ever give it up – unless I won the lottery!
What’s your personal motto/credo?
“If you change the way you look at things, the things that you look at will change” or “believe it and you will see it.” I come into work every day with a very positive attitude. Because I’m a leader and executive chef, I have a vision as to what I want to achieve with my team.
