Banmore Group is raising $25,000 to boost cancer fight!

Cancer affects us all. But one airport employer is putting its money where its mouth is – and inviting airport workers and passengers alike to help.

Banmore Group, which operates 11 Subway, Booster Juice and Osmow’s outlets at Toronto Pearson, is raising money to support the oncology department at Brampton Civic Hospital.

On June 29 and 30, all of Banmore’s Subway outlets at Pearson, plus the restaurant on Dixon Road, will be donating $1 from every footlong and .50 cents from every 6-inch sandwich. All of its Booster Juice outlets will be donating $1 from every regular smoothie and .50 cents from every snack-size smoothie.

Why Banmore Group, and why now? Last year, Banmore CEO Mickey Patel was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought the illness while continuing to work at Pearson, where she’s been for 12 years. Patel is now cancer-free, and the Banmore Group wants to support more recovery stories.

“I truly believe life is 10 percent what happens to us and 90 percent how we react to it, and difficult roads can lead to beautiful destinations,” Patel says.

All donations to the fundraiser, powered by William Ostler Health System, will support high-quality and compassionate care prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment. Banmore Group’s goal is to raise $25,000.

So on June 29 and 30, don’t forget to forget your lunch or dinner! Instead, consider having a sub and smoothie for the best of causes. We wish Mickey Patel the very best and look forward to 12 more years with us here at Toronto Pearson.
