Join the Inaugural Airport Workers Day Celebration!

Honouring your hard work, dedication and the spirit of Pearson’s airport community

On June 26, in partnership with the Canadian Airports Council (CAC), all Canadian airports – including Toronto Pearson – will celebrate Canada’s first “Airport Workers Day.” Along with more than 30 airports participating nationally, we cannot wait to acknowledge the vital work you do and show our Pearson pride.

Celebrate with us!

Celebrate the great work delivered 365 days a year by you and the rest of the airport worker community here at Pearson. Enjoy snacks, swag, music with a live DJ and lots of fun photo opportunities. Plus, a chance to connect with your colleagues. As part of this important day, Pearson will present national CAC awards to our local winners and recognize all nominees for their dedication and contribution.

To attend, drop by Lounge 15 in Terminal 1 on Wednesday, June 26 from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

About Airport Workers Day

Airport Workers Day is a coordinated national event to recognize and celebrate the vital contributions of the people who keep Canada moving. This year, 150 million passengers will travel through Canada’s airports – or roughly the equivalent of every single person in Canada taking four trips in a year. As Canada’s largest airport, Pearson will welcome more than one third of those passengers.

Behind the scenes, making all of those trips and connections run smoothly, there are 200,000 people like you across Canada (50,000 at Pearson alone) who go the extra mile to connect people, communities, and our country to the world.

Making an impact

From technicians to baggage handlers, security guards to aircraft marshals, air traffic controllers to facilities staff – the professions and career paths within our airport are as diverse as the people who fill these roles. Many airport workers remain within their professions for multiple decades – a testament to their commitment to aviation and the workplace culture at Pearson.

But it is not just the work you do during your shift that deserves recognition.

Our industry is ever-evolving and your commitment to continuous learning and improvement help us keep the airport community safe and find innovative ways to put the joy back into travel for each other and passengers.

Your work is part of the greater aviation ecosystem, a complex community with many moving parts. The teamwork you bring to work every day makes this nationally and internationally connected system work seamlessly. Because of you:

  • Our grocery stores are stocked with food on time

  • Essential medical supplies get to where they are needed

  • We contribute to creating a healthy economy supporting businesses and jobs

  • Families get to see their loved ones at critical moments in their lives.

Your hard work has a huge impact in the Greater Toronto Area. As the second largest economic zone in Canada, we support jobs for your friends, neighbours and families in manufacturing and logistics that are interconnected with our airport, generating over $58 billion to Ontario’s economy.

We hope you’ll join the celebration. You’ve earned it!
