Safety Spotlight
Your Working Animals of Toronto Pearson!
Did you know? Toronto Pearson has many working animals to keep our passengers and the skies safe. From our Securiguard K9-unit highly trained detection dogs to our Canada Border Services Agency dogs that are trained to detect food, plants and agriculture products, prohibited narcotics, currency, firearms, and our very own therapy dogs who make your journey in our airports stress free.
The airport is surrounded by fields and creeks, wild animals and birds like ducks, gulls, pigeons, geese, and foxes that may get in the way of planes or wander onto the runways.
In keeping our airfield safe during take-off and landings, wildlife in the area can pose a threat. To avoid impacts between aircraft and wildlife, our wildlife control management team will release their trained falcons or eagle to scare off these animals.
There are currently 30 birds of prey, including falcons, hawks and a bald eagle named Ivan, who work to keep the airspace of our airport and its surroundings clear.
Fun Fact: In most birds of prey, the female is larger, possesses bigger talons and weighs up to one-third more than the male.
Help us keep everyone safe by reporting to:
Airport Operations at 416-776-3055 if you see wildlife activity and remember not to leave food or drinks that may attract wildlife.

Toronto Pearson wishes you a happy Ramadan!
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, which is expected to last from March 11 to April 9, 2024 (as the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, these dates will vary from year to year). For Muslims, there are many facets to observing Ramadan, which can include reflection, community, prayer, and fasting.
To all who are observing this special time, we wish you a safe and peaceful Ramadan.
Accessible Airport
Learn how to best help a passenger with a disability
We've teamed up with other Canadian airports to bring you an essential training course designed to make our airport more accessible for everyone. This course is your chance to become a champion for accessibility and make a real difference in the journey of passengers with disabilities. Visit this page to learn more.
Wellness
Celebrating women and supporting their wellness
As we honour International Women’s Day on March 8th, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women worldwide. This year’s theme, #InspireInclusion, resonates deeply as we strive to cultivate an environment that not only embraces diversity but actively promotes wellness, inclusion, and psychological safety.
Women’s wellness thrives in an environment where they feel psychologically safe, respected, and empowered. It’s about recognizing and addressing the barriers that hinder women from achieving holistic wellness.
Let’s take a moment to acknowledge the unique challenges women may encounter and honor the invaluable contributions they make in various aspects of life. On this International Women’s Day, we encourage you to celebrate the women around you, support one another, and contribute to building a more inclusive environment that prioritizes wellness. Whether it’s sharing wellness tips, uplifting stories, or resources for personal well-being, let’s use this day to inspire positive change.
