Who’s hiring at YYZ? Job Fair Edition

When most people imagine a career at Toronto Pearson Airport, they likely think of security experts, airline staff, or aircraft mechanics — but that’s just the beginning! Over 50,000 people work at Pearson Airport; from retail professionals to bank representatives to baristas, the airport is like a small city within a city. On February 22, we’re hosting the Toronto Pearson Job Fair to promote over 500 available positions. Over 3,000 tickets to the job fair were snatched up in hours! Entry will be for ticket holders, and we can’t wait to welcome new colleagues to their new home at Pearson. 

1. Specialist, Airport Bussing (Multiple Positions)
Employer: Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) 
Role: As an Airport Bussing Specialist, you’ll be responsible for providing hardstand bussing services at Pearson. Duties include assisting the public with mobility issues, deploying and operating ground support equipment, and inspecting bus routes and bus bay areas for litter and debris.
Key requirements: In addition to bus driving experience and strong communications and customer service skills, applicants must have a high school diploma (or equivalent), a minimum CZ Provincial Driver’s Licence, and the ability to obtain Transportation Security Clearance, a “DA” class Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit, and other first aid training certifications.

2. Shift Manager
Employer: HMS Host 
Role: The Shift Manager for HMS Host — which operates restaurants around Pearson, including Caplansky’s Deli, LEE Restaurant and Starbucks — assists in managing day-to-day operations, ensuring the restaurant is clean, equipped for business, appropriately staffed, and operates at the highest standards.  
Key requirements: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of experience working in food and beverage, and a minimum of six months experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a restaurant or production kitchen. As well, they should be comfortable conversing with customers and have strong verbal and written communication skills.

3. Aircraft Fueler
Employer: Menzies Aviation 
Role: In this role, you’ll be responsible for fueling aircraft in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring accurate loading and balancing of fuel, performing daily quality control checks on equipment, and driving a variety of light and heavy duty vehicles.
Key requirements: You’ll need a high school diploma, one to three months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. As well, you’ll need a valid Class G driver’s license, the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating manuals, and the ability to work well under pressure. Must also be able to obtain all required security clearances.

4. Assistant Retail Manager 
Employer: Johnston & Murphy 
Role: The Pearson outlet of Johnston & Murphy, which sells footwear, clothing, and other professional accessories, is seeking an Assistant Retail Manager who is responsible for accurate inventory and cash management, implementing visual guidelines, and hiring and managing a high-performing sales team.      
Key requirements: You’ll need at least one year of retail management experience, as well as strong customer service skills, a professional appearance, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
