Who’s hiring at YYZ? March Edition

Over 50,000 people work at Pearson Airport — from aircraft engineers and security experts to bank representatives and baristas, the airport is like a small city within a city. Each month, we'll feature a selection of live job postings that showcase the range of exciting opportunities in the GTAA community. Here are just a few examples of who’s hiring now — and if you have a friend or family member who might be a good fit for one of these roles, be sure to pass it on!  

1. Pricing Assistant
Employer: CLS Catering Services 
Role: CLS, part of LSG Sky Chef and Cathay Pacific, is seeking a food-industry professional with a strong aptitude for data analytics and systems management to support the Pricing Manager in establishing and analyzing costing and pricing models on an ongoing basis.   
Key requirements: You’re an analytical thinker with a post-secondary degree and three to five years of experience working in the food or hospitality industry as a pricing or business analyst. You’ll need excellent communication skills, an ability to multitask, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

2. Electrician, Terminal Infrastructure
Employer: Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA)
Role: As Electrician, your core responsibilities include maintaining all illumination devices and lighting systems; installing new electrical services; ensuring that emergency power devices are in ready condition; diagnosing electrical equipment faults; and supervising electrical work being performed by outside contractors.
Key requirements: You’re an experienced electrician with strong problem-solving and communications skills and a minimum of three years of experience in an electrical maintenance position. Essential credentials include an Ontario secondary school diploma (or equivalent), a valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician (Construction and Maintenance Electrical 309 License), and a valid class “G” Ontario driver’s license.

3. Training Team Lead
Employer: GardaWorld
Role: GardaWorld, a global leader in the security industry, is seeking a Training Team Leader to train screening officers according to the parameters laid out by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority. Responsibilities for this role include coaching, mentoring, and participating in various training initiatives, including foundations training and recertifications.   
Key requirements: In addition to strong communications, analytical, and planning skills, you’ll need a minimum of one year of screening officer experience (pre-board screening) and the ability to deliver an effective training seminar. You will also need to meet several knowledge and security requirements, including achieving 90% of the National X-Ray Exam and 90% on the PBS RLP knowledge exam.

4. Marshaller
Employer: Signature Aviation
Role: Marshallers for Signature, a global aviation services provider, attend to arriving and departing aircraft at Pearson. They ensure arriving planes are marshalled in, chalked and coned, with a carpet placed at the door. They assist with customer rental cars and pilot requirements, such as fuelling needs and departure times. For departing flights, responsibilities include ensuring that all catering is brought out to the aircraft and assisting with light baggage and the parking of personal cars. 
Key requirements: Candidates must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License and basic computer literacy. They must also be available to work all shifts as operations are 24/7.

5. Assistant Restaurant Manager
Employer: SSP Canada 
Role: As Assistant Manager, you’ll lead the restaurant team, working alongside the General Manager. You’ll be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing team members; delegating daily goals and tasks; monitoring sales performance through the analysis of sales reports; and delivering exceptional customer service. 
Key requirements: In addition to excellent organizational and communications skills, candidates should have a minimum of two years of management experience in the food and beverage industry. Experience with the Tim Hortons brand is a major asset.
