Who’s Hiring at YYZ? November Edition

Over 50,000 people work at Toronto Pearson — from aircraft engineers and security experts to bank representatives and baristas, the airport is like a small city within a city. Each month, we'll feature a selection of live job postings that showcase the range of exciting opportunities in the GTAA community. Here are just a few examples of who’s hiring now — and if you have a friend or family member who might be a good fit for one of these roles, be sure to pass it on!  

 

1. Assistant Restaurant Manager 

Employer: SSP Canada  

Role: Reporting to the Restaurant General Manager at SSP Canada — which operates more than 30 restaurants throughout Pearson Airport, including Tim Horton’s, Freshii’s, and Urban Crave — this role is responsible for recruiting, training and managing the restaurant team, leading by example to ensure an exceptional level of customer service. The Assistant Restaurant Manager also monitors sales performance and manages office tasks including oversight of funds, inventory, purchasing, team member scheduling and payroll. 

Key requirements: You have a minimum of two years of management experience in the food & drink industry — with strong preference given to candidates with Tim Horton’s brand experience. You are organized, have excellent communication skills and have a proven capacity to effectively navigate conflict and challenges under pressure.

2. Officer, Commercial Vehicles 

Employer: Greater Toronto Airport Authority  

Role: Supporting the safe and efficient operations of Ground Transportation Services at Pearson, the Officer role includes administering taxi and limo permitting and the drivers testing program, as well as liaising with commercial vehicle drivers to resolve day-to-day issues. 

Key requirements: A post-secondary diploma/degree or equivalent training and certification in groundside transportation is mandatory (preferably at an airport), in addition to three years’ experience in commercial vehicle operations or a related field. You’ll need effective English-language communication skills, proficiency in MS Office programs, and a valid Ontario driver’s license.

3. Manager, Client Advice 

Employer: CIBC  

The role: For its Toronto Pearson banking centres, CIBC is looking for a manager to develop and coach a team of client service and financial service representatives, helping to ensure each client is connected with the right financial advice to meet their personal and business needs. 

Key requirements: Candidates should be certified professionals with current accreditation and a Mutual Funds License (Canadian Securities Course or Investment Funds in Canada) in good standing. Must also be collaborative, goal-oriented and flexible to work CIBC’s banking centre hours, which may include evenings and weekends.

4. Facility Stanchion Agent 

Employer: Dexterra 

Role: In this role, you will help different airlines manage check-in at Toronto Pearson by facilitating line management via the safe and efficient staging of stanchions.  

Key requirements: Dexterra is seeking customer-service oriented candidates with excellent communication skills who will convey a professional and welcoming presence as they interact with passengers. Must have sharp observation skills, an ability to multi-task, and respond quickly to circumstances as priorities change.
