Who’s hiring? YYZ September edition

Each month, we'll feature a selection of live job postings that showcase the range of exciting opportunities in the GTAA community. Here are just a few examples of who’s hiring now — and if you have a friend or family member who might be a good fit for one of these roles, be sure to pass it on!
Firefighter Recruit
Employer: Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA)
The role: Firefighters at Pearson work from one of three fire stations at the airport to provide emergency response in the event of fires, medical emergencies, or technical or aircraft emergencies. There are roughly 5,800 such emergency incidents at Pearson every year.
Key requirements: In addition to a high-school diploma, potential candidates must be able to demonstrate approved firefighter training credentials as well as specified emergency medical responder and CPR certificates.

Fitness Trainer
Employer: Goodlife Fitness
The role: Goodlife in Terminal 1 is seeking a fitness trainer to focus on membership sales and customer service, and to help coach existing gym members on the proper use of equipment.
Key requirements: In addition to a high-school diploma, potential candidates must be able to demonstrate approved firefighter training credentials as well as specified emergency medical responder and CPR certificates.

Baggage Cart Operator
Employer: Dexterra
Role: Responsible for collecting, loading, and transporting baggage carts to the appropriate terminal areas via truck and trailer. This operator is also charged with watching for spills and safety hazards in the terminals and assisting passengers as necessary.
Key requirements: For this role, candidates will need excellent organizational, accountability and communication skills, an ability to work under pressure and, of course, a valid driver’s licence.

Assistant Restaurant Manager
Employer: SSP Canada, which operates several restaurants throughout Pearson, including Tim Horton’s, Freshii, Mill Street and Urban Crave.
Role: Working closely with the Restaurant General Manager, the Assistant Restaurant Manager leads by example, ensuring that team members are informed and engaged, that quality, safety and sales standards are met, and that guests are greeted with excellent customer service.
Key requirements: To succeed in this role, candidates will need to have excellent communication and organizational skills, be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, and have a minimum of two years of management experience in the food & beverage industry (with a strong preference for Tim Hortons brand experience).

Flight attendant
Employer: Air Canada Rouge
Role: Key responsibilities for Air Canada Rouge flight attendants include preparing the aircraft, ensuring safety procedures are followed, and communicating with passengers in a friendly and professional manner, both one-on-one and via general intercom.
Key requirements: Firstly, candidates must be comfortable working in a pressurized cabin at high altitudes. A high school diploma is mandatory and customer service experience is an asset. Applicants who are fluent in multiple languages (English and French are mandatory) are preferred.

Staff pharmacist
Employer: DrugSmart Pharmacy
Role: DrugSmart is hiring a part-time staff pharmacist to create a welcoming environment, consult with patients, manage inventory, and drive business at its Pearson location, three days a week.
Key requirements: Applicants must be a licenced pharmacist in the province of Ontario with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has advanced knowledge of pharmaceutical systems and safety protocols, and a passion for customer service.
